There's nothing prickly about our Simply White Mini Thistle Vase. This iconic MacKenzie-Childs emblem was inspired by the barbed purple flowers that flourish on the hills of our Aurora farm. The refined simplicity of our Simply White Thistle Vase belies the intricate journey it undertakes. From raw red clay our artisans shape organic terra cotta into pleasing silhouettes, finishing each with the same types of hand tools ceramicists have used for hundreds of years. After guiding the pieces through a first kiln firing, we patiently allow the fragile greenware that emerges to dry – for up to several weeks – before painting a coat of fresh Simply White glaze and firing for a second time. The journey continues for many of our other products, but with Simply White Thistle Vases, the focus is on the form, allowing the understated elegance to shine through. Sweet and petite, the Mini Thistle Vase is perfect for a pocket full of posies.
